Gond

Gond is the second largest tribe of India. Gonds are basically resident of Gondwana area. Apart from Jharkhand, they get status of Scheduled Tribes in Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha and West Bengal. Gond who resides in Jharkhand, according to mythology, legends and traditions, moved from Gondwana region of central India to come here and settled in other states also. Rijale considered Dravid as non-Aryan and on linguistic basis. William Cook described Gond as the native of Central India.
