Chero
Chero is an ancient race. It has got the status of Scheduled Tribes in Jharkhand. Chero is also called Cheran or Cherava. In Palamu, they are called "twelvehajari", like, "eighteen thousand rupees" to Khawar. The reason behind this is that it is said that when Bhagwat Rai first performed on Pargana, his army included 12000 Chero and 18000 quarrels. Based on this number, they were given the name.
According to the origin of the Cheras, there is a legend given by the Cheras, according to which the Brahmin king of Ghudgumati was the only daughter of the king of Ghulamgumi whose Brahmin saw a Brahmin told that he would marry his wife, knowing that the king should take his daughter together and In this, I will give the daughter to the person who is the first person to be given the gift. While passing through the mooring of Kumaon, he saw a mound. In fact, the mound was made by the Balmikis surrounded by an ascetic monk. The king cleared the mound and took Muni out and returned and handed his daughter to them. This couple is said to be Chandra Vanshi Kshatriya, which is the origin of Chero or Chahen Vansi Rajputs.
